I’ve read mixed reviews about this collection, some people think Riccardo Tisci’s fame has clouded his creativity, which has resulted in a boring and repetitive collection, but you know what? I think they are all crazy.
Riccardo Tisci has a very strong point of view which comes across in every collection but I don’t think that makes it boring, I think it shows that he is a designer who knows what his strengths and weaknesses are. After looking back at his previous seasons, I feel this collection stands out more than any of the ones we have seen in the past 3-4 years.
Its been noted that the inspiration behind this season was Tisci’s ‘dark obsessions’ which comes across quite clearly. It seems more thought out, I actually feel that there is a deeper sense of creativity here. I love how he’s used gothic/halloween like makeup to emphasise these ‘dark obsessions’ of his. This presentation is kind of like what hell would look like if it were governed by Tisci himself, instead of a lake of fire, sinners would be cast into a lake of red glitter.
