Can you look past the vulgarity and see the beauty in these images taken by Japanese photographer Nobuyoshi Araki? Araki is known for his obsession with eroticism which I find both frightening and admirable. His exploration of the female body and ‘kinbaku’  (which means the ‘beauty in tight binding’) does not aim to degrade women, but to look deeper into the act of ‘kinbaku’ which is an old tradition in Japan.

The facial expressions of the models are neither uncomfortable or afraid, to me they exude a sense of confidence. These bold images might have be dancing along the line of pornography however, Araki has delivered an artistic viewpoint on a delicate subject.
